Motivation for business and life
The guy’s who ran the dot com company Govworks may have had a personality clash but damn they had passion. They got their team cranking in the mornings with a chant yelled out over a sound sea of clapping: “What are we gonna do? Rock ‘em! When are we gonna do it? Every day! How are we gonna do it? Every way!”.
How good is that! Imagine the passion. Sure, Govworks failed but both CEO’s went on to achieve more in business and in my opinion they are giving it their all. That would be a good chant for recruitment companies to do in the mornings to energize their team for the day. As you sales folk out there will know, energy and keeping that buzz going in the office or around can really make a difference.
I’m a big fan of morning psych ups. Get those beats going on the ipod, stamp your feet, look in the mirror and YELL LIKE AN ARMY DRILL SARGEANT at yourself. Then get out there and give it your all!
As much as America’s government sucks I reflected yesterday on my time here. It’s been great and the people I’ve met have been what’s made it so special. I’m not really one to take photo’s of buildings or things around me, I’d rather take photos of people and try and capture some of those moments. To me, that’s what travelling is all about. The buildings and trees will be there for others to visit. But the people, and what they talked about, and how they told their story, that’s not a constant. People and our experience with them is what it’s all about!
Someone who helped shape my education died on Friday. Allister McLay was a lecturer of mine at EIT in Hawke’s Bay New Zealand. Less than an hour ago a friend of mine just told me he was in car accident. I think I’m still in shock. Allister had energy, he had smile on his face and could relate to students on their level. The crew I studied with enjoyed his classes. He was very supportive and made the learning atmosphere fun. He leaves behind a wife and two young daughters.
He’s someone I’ll remember as a real top dog, a champ. He was a positive guy and he put himself out there and touched a lot of people. Allister, rest in peace brother! You played the game well like all of us should. This reminded me again that life can be over just like ‘that’…
So get out there everyone! jump high in the air and bash your arms around, excel and fill the world with everything that’s good about you. Pump out your energy, make stuff happen!! Life is there for the taking, each day when you wake up you have a shitload of time you can use to be you. Do it!!
My French life is just about to begin, I’m pumped, I’m ready for it, I have an apartment sorted. Tomorrow I head to Portland Oregon and fly out on Wednesday to Frankfurt with a connecting flight an hour later to Paris.

Hey all the best for your new French life! cheers for the motivation, I’m not such a big fan of extreme morning psych ups but I like your ideas on making the most of every day and trying to play your part in creating a positive and supportive environment in your daily life
Have a blast!
